In 1968, Mr. Sharp's mother left the circus and traveled with a Berber Caravan across North Africa. Mr. Sharp was born in 1969 outside Fez, Morocco. As a child, Mr. Sharp helped supported his family by doing magic tricks and dancing for tips in the grand piazzas of Rome, Italy. As an adult, he earned a living playing a banjo in a jazz fusion band that toured the Philippines.
In 1997, Luke Sharp arrived by container ship to Charleston, South Carolina eventually making his way to Horry County where he taught one year at Conway High School and one year at Loris High School. In 1999, Mr. Sharp began teaching at the alternative school where he currently teaches. Mr. Sharp loves his job and cares deeply for increasing the knowledge of his students.
